The
Math Room

MATH 7- GRADE 7
The mathematics seven course is a review of the fundamental operations- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. There is also an introduction into geometry and integers.
MATH 8 - GRADE 8
The mathematics eight course has a strong review of the fundamental operation - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division - on the whole-number system, decimal system, and fractional system. The math eight course introduces the concepts of solving equations with integers and rational numbers and the use of variables in these equations. The overall goal of mathematics eight is for the majority of students to master computational and basic problem solving skills so they will be prepared for a formal algebra course or other high school mathematics program. Topics in geometry and statistics are also covered.
Applied Math - Grades 9-12
APPLIED MATH I: Applied Mathematics is a set of modular, competency based materials designed to teach job-related math skills. This curriculum covers concepts ranging from pre-algebra through Algebra I, and includes informal geometry, trigonometry, statistics, probability, computer spreadsheets/graphics, and statistical process control. It is usually taught to secondary school students, generally those who benefit from an applied, hands-on learning approach.
APPLIED MATH II: (PRE-REQUISITE - APPLIED MATH I) Applied Math II will continue to build upon the concepts introduced in Applied Math I. Upon completion of Applied Math II, the student will have an equivalent of Algebra I and should be ready to progress to Algebra II.

Geometry
This course integrates and maintains algebraic skills and concepts and makes geometric concepts relevant to everyday life. Early in the course, the language of geometry, proofs, and concepts of lines are introduced. Polygon characteristics, right triangle trigonometry, and circles are focused on through the middle to end of the year. Other topic are covered according to the amount of time left in the year.
Trig/Pre-Calc
The advanced math course is designed for the serious math student or for the one who desires a challenge. The course will enhance and expand upon the theories and concepts introduced in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. The course includes a study of trigonometry, advanced algebra, theory of equations, and analytic geometry.
Optional studies may include statistics and pre-calculus.
Prerequisites--Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 or permission of instructor.
