Computer Class

Algebra I
This course deals with the four fundamental operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing) on real numbers and their use in the solving of simple equations. From real numbers we move into the area of how these operations deal with powers or exponents and polynomials. The factoring of polynomials and the solving and graphing of equations, functions, and inequalities. The graphing will be in both number lines and Cartesian planes depending on the system. Optional lessons may include areas of radicals, quadratics and rational and irrational numbers.
Algebra II --Grades 10-12
Algebra II will expand upon the theories received in Algebra I. Such theories will include four basic operations, use of graphing, solving equations and inequalities, functions, and relations. The factoring of polynomials and finding of roots will become more specific by use of completing the square and quadratic formula. The number system will be expanded to include both the real and imaginary systems. The different types of conics will be explored and how they are expressed algebraically.
Optional lessons may include; logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions, sequences and series.
PREREQUISITES--ALGEBRA I

Computer Choices 9-12
The computer choices selection is now available for students in grades 9-12. The student may take a total of 4 years or 8 semesters. Internet and its uses will be explored in each of the selections below. To use the Internet, a student and their parents must read the school's acceptable use policy on NETWORKS and must return a signed consent form.
Below are suggested sequences for the computer choices areas each sequence is designed to cover 2 semesters. Permission of instructor should be obtained to take only one semester of any sequence.
WINDOWS & WORD PROCESSING
This sequence will explore the advanced features of a word processor and how to use these advanced features. The windows operating systems will be investigated and explored.
SPREADSHEETS, DATA BASES
This sequence will explore the advanced features of a spreadsheet, database, and use of the computer to track individual checkbook accounts. these programs can be useful for maintaining records for home, farming, and small business.
DESKTOP PUBLISHING
This sequence will explore the use of word processors and desktop publishing software to develop flyers, banners, brochures, and newsletters. Drawing programs and scanners will be used to enhance the look and feel of your publication.
PRESENTATION
Presentation software and its value will also be covered. Presentation software utilizes a computer to present information to the public in either a stand alone mode or as a tool to display information during a lecture/sales presentation.
INTERNET AND WEB PAGES
This sequence will focus on the Internet. To 'Surf the Net' and explore the different type of sites available, to gather information for research projects or for your own personal growth. The course will also involve the construction of Web Pages which include graphics, pictures, and text. These web pages will allow other internet users to link to other areas throughout the World Wide Web.
MS OFFICE (GRADE 12)
The MS OFFICE class will utilize the various aspects of the Microsoft Office program (Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and PowerPoint). Students will also make an electronic resume that will be written to a CD-ROM disk.
