This is the art room. The teacher is Mr. Schumacher.

 

 

7TH GRADE HOME EC. / ART: (1st semester) This class concentrates on food, nutrition, meal planning, equipment use and care, following a recipe, measuring, preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also covered is family conflict/violence, and stress for the family of a student.

For Art the students will do a project with food and concentrate n form/shape, color and texture or sculpture with "found" objects.

 

ART I-GRADES 10-12

Students will have a textbook and will study the principles and elements of art: color, shape, line, texture, value, repetition, proportion, space and harmony. They will produce watercolor/tempera. Ceramics will include methods of pinch, coil include batik (a dye and wax reset method) and alternate project of coiling( a yarn and cord method of basket-making). Printmaking uses a linoleum block or silk screen in two or three colors. Students will also study some Art History, using Scholastic Art Magazines. This is a year long course.

 

ART II- GRADES 11-12

Art I is a prerequisite to this course. In some cases, the course is adaptable to individual needs (according to college needs or if they have taken this course in the past).

Students will begin with pencil drawing in line and value and translate value contrast to oil painting, and watercolor painting. Work in ceramics will include low to high relief plaques, the human head and slip-casting (making a mold and pouring liquid slip to make a sculpture, and wheel thrown pottery).

They will do a silk screen on paper or cloth, make paper from other paper, do glass etching with acid, and alternate project of plaster armature sculpture, and oil or acrylic painting
